Healthcare and Physician Headshot Portfolio

Healthcare is the largest body of work in this studio, and most of it was made where the work happens: corridors, treatment rooms, clinic receptions and hospital floors. Kay Choi is a practising hospital pharmacist of fifteen years, which is why these sessions run quietly.

What these sessions have in common

White coats that fit, badges that are straight, and backgrounds that separate cleanly from scrubs. None of that happens by accident, and all of it is the difference between a portrait that reads as a professional and one that reads as a staff record.

The other constant is what is not in the frame. No patients, no charts, no schedules, no screens — on any campus, in any room, without exception. It is the first thing agreed with a facility and the last thing checked before a frame is delivered.

The sittings themselves are short, because clinical time is not moveable. A department is photographed on a rota through a single visit, with each person in and out in a scheduled slot, so a floor keeps working while it is being photographed.
